We welcome you to Sun City Yacht Club.

The Sun City Yacht Club (SCYC) was formed in 1974 in the Two Rocks \ Yanchep region. Next year the club is celebrating its 50th year since its foundation on November 11th, 1974 by a group of dedicated sailors and businessmen.

Probably the best-known of those founding members was Alan Bond, the visionary who bought together the team that captured the America's Cup for Australia in 1983 when Australia II, representing the Royal Perth Yacht Club, beat the New York Yacht Club’s Liberty. Alan Bond originally planned to challenge for the America’s Cup from Two Rocks with Southern Cross, her trialing partner Gretel and Australia I training and competing off Two Rocks and Yanchep for the right to challenge for the Americas Cup. Although defeated by the Americans in the 1977 challenge and in 1980, Alan Bond challenged again in 1983 when Australia II won the Americas Cup.

For many years after 1974, the Two Rocks marina was a popular destination for international visiting yachts, many of whom were unable to pass under the bridges on the Swan River. The marina was also the first along the coast to have a Travel (Tami) Lift to get the large boats out of the water. The yacht club thrived in this period with frequent keel boat races and small catamaran races.

The Sun City Yacht Club now has a fleet of 20 dinghies in four different classes and a strong focus remains on introducing and training people, both junior and adult in the basics of sailing. The club is an accredited Yachting Australia Discover Sailing Centre.

New members are welcome - the club hosts regular Saturday dinghy sailing during summer, has an active social calendar, and provides opportunities for members to sail on keelboats.
